Auditions
Students at Mirim Kim's Studio can participate in a number of audition programs.
Certificate of Merit*
Students are evaluated on an assigned date at a site determined by the
local branch of MTAC (Music Teacher's Association of California). These
evaluations are administered by state-appointed evaluators. The
auditions include performance, technique, ear training, sight reading
and written theory tests. Through this audtion, students can qualify
for the State Convention Recital and Branch Honor Recitals.
National Piano Guild Audition
Yearly auditions are held in over 863 US cities and 17 foreign
countries. Students are adjudicated by an international panel of judges
and receive report cards, certificates, and fraternity pins. Programs
are diversified to meet the needs of both students and teachers.
Programs are flexible and include repertoire as well as technical goals
(musicianship phases). Students can qualify for scholarships, medals
and plaques.
CAPMT Piano and Ensemble Audition
California Association of Professional Music Teachers offers Piano and
Ensemble auditions in fall. Students who get suprior rank from this
audition get invited to play in the Northern California Piano Festival
in San Franciso.

Students can also participate in the West Coast Rag Competition and Go for the Gold Piano Competition
